2E Mosman Street
Calm, open spaces and expansive views shape the design of these luxury apartments. Overlooking Mosman Bay, the client’s $4.25 million project includes the development of a four-storey building and car park on a site previously occupied by nine apartments.
Architect, Peter Stronach of Allen Jack+Cottier, compares the large floor space to a blank canvas open to possibility. Apartments are spacious, enabling cross-ventilation, ample windows and several living rooms.
The large rectangular space also includes operable walls, allowing closure of sections for added privacy or selective heating. The long axis faces north, optimising access to sunlight. The plans also set the building farther back from the shore, increasing the landscape area and natural sense of transition from the bay.
Peter thought it was important to reflect the surrounding area while endorsing modern architecture. Colours are harmonious with the locality, and the roof mimics prevailing forms in the area.
